Graduate Interns
Each year, a minimum of 2 graduate students are selected to serve as practicum students with Orientation
during spring semester. These students, in most cases, also serve in a full time paid internship
during the summer following their practicum experience. Students eligible for this opportunity include
those graduate students pursuing a master's degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs at IU.
While in the Office of Orientation Programs, Graduate Interns will work with many aspects of
IU's Orientation Programs: New Student Orientation, Welcome Week, IUBeginnings and more.
Their responsibilities may include: undergraduate staff selection and training, event planning,
assessment of programs, implementation of orientation sessions, presentations to new students and
their families, and more.
Testing Room Supervisors
Graduate students are employed for the summer New Student Orientation Program to serve as Testing Room
Supervisors. Hired by and paid through the Office of Orientation Programs, these staff members
work with the IUB Evaluation Services and Testing office to monitor required and optional testing during
orientation. These positions are paid hourly; staff are hired mid-spring for the following summer.
Other Opportunities
Other opportunities, such as assisting with New Student Orientation prior to the spring semester, are
often available. Please check this web page, as information will be posted here when such
opportunities arise.
